SCHUCO "YES NO" CAT PRE 1951 JOINTED METAL MOHAIR BODY w/ GLASS EYES "VERY RARE"
Condition:  Excellent plus -
The Mohair is intact with no  bald spots.
Joints all work. Tail moves head up & down and side to side.
The felt pads on paws and feet are intact have minimal discoloration from dusty residue.
There is a slight yellowing discoloration at base of tail. The chest  Squeaker does not work.
It is
virtually impossible to get an original "squeaker" that works due to cracking of the rubber bladder that dries out.
This toy cat is made prior to 1951.  It has black and green glass eyes and a pink stitched nose and mouth.  The Ears are  velveteen with the pink tint visible. The red ribbon on chest is original. Cat has six jointed areas including head, tail, arms and legs. The tail when moved left to right means "no"  and up and down means "yes".   Also all four arms and legs move from standing to sitting, arms up and down.
The early versions of this cat did not have whiskers or come with clothing.  Also the earlier versions
had the rosy tinted Velveteen inner ears,
smaller glass eyes, the red chest ribbon and felted pads on paws and feet.  Upon further research data shows that the "Yes No" animal line was patented in the 1920's and the "Yes No" "TRICKY" line was started in 1952.  This cat and other Schuco toys that I am listing were all purchased between 1949-1951 when my husband's father was stationed in Germany which makes this cat a very early "Yes No" cat and NOT a "Tricky" cat.  The difference between this cat and Tricky explains why this cat originally never had the "red plastic Tricky Badge" or Clothes.  This cat was one of the latter production line in the "Yes No" animal lines and is VERY RARE.  Between 1946-1949 the Schuco factory operated at a 25% capacity making household hardware and toys on a small scale.  This is another reason why this version of the "Yes NO" cat is so hard to find.
