11E Live Edge Elm Slab -
Highly Figured DIY Live Edge Rare Elm Slab- We believe this is a Siberian Elm. Notice the speckling figure
NOTE: This slab was bowed. We skip planed the high points off one side and nicely planed the top side (shown in almost all of the photos) it is nearly flat after planing but not perfect.
Highly figured Elm wood does change shape slightly as humidity changes occur.
Current moisture content per our meter reads 15-16%
The slab should only need a light sanding and it will be ready to apply a finish. It is unfinished and one side is nicely planed.
This is a beautiful, artistic piece of Elm with an exceptional natural edge and internal figure.
The bark is intact except a small section on one side as shown. The bark seems as if it would peel off fairly easily. If you wish to maintain the bark, it will require some effort with wood glue, etc.
It is about 48 inches long. The ends are rough cut.
It is about 11-14 inches wide to the outside bark edges.
It is about 1 1/8 - 1 1/4 inches thick or so.
The photos show both sides.
It was moistened with water for most of the pictures to help show the beautiful grain variations and deep rich heartwood.
