is the mainframe of the Hewlett-Packard Logic Analysis System. It offers a modular structure for plug-in cards with a wide range of state, timing, oscilloscope, and pattern generator capabilities. This allows you to configure the HP 16500C using only the modules you need, while giving you the flexibility to change or update later.

With the intermodule capabilities of the Logic Analysis System, you can make interactive measurements between modules. This allows you to configure modules to interact with each other using the triggering capabilities of one module and the acquisition capabilities of another. The LAN interface provides direct connection to computers located on an Ethernet local area network (LAN). The LAN interface enables you to upload measurement data for post-processing and easy access to data files.

Verify the timing of critical edges with 250 ps resolution across up to 40 channels, or 500 ps resolution across up to 80 channels.
Use the 1 GSa/s synchronous state analysis to view high-speed data streams across up to 80 channels.
The 250 ps resolution of this analyzer and phase-locked loops, keeps the skew between channels to ± 250 ps.
The 250 ps precision (channel-to-channel skew) allows this logic analyzer to be used in place of an oscilloscope for characterization.
The high channel count of a logic analyzer makes this a much more efficient process.

The 16517A Logic Analyzer High-Speed Timing Module is capable of triggering on violations of timing specifications. The module has a maximum timing speed of 2GHz (full channel mode) or 4GHz (half-channel mode) and a maximum state speed of 1GHz or 2GHz (maximum state speed with oversampling). It has a memory depth of 64K (full channel mode) or 128K (half-channel mode).
